Get involved in NAIDOC, urges Ballina MP
Ballina MP Don Page is encouraging the whole community to get involved in NAIDOC Week, which starts on Monday July 7th.
“NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for the whole community to celebrate the achievements and contributions that the Indigenous community has made to our history and culture,” Mr Page said.
“Everyone can participate in the range of activities on offer during the week.”
Ballina activities include the Celebration Walk on Monday morning in River Street starting at around 9.30am and an activity day at Missingham Park on Tuesday.
“It’s an opportunity for everyone to show their support and celebrate our local Indigenous communities,” Mr Page said.
“It is particularly relevant this year as this will be the first NAIDOC Week since the historic formal apology to the Stolen Generations was given by the Federal Government and the Australian people.
“I encourage all members of our community to celebrate, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous.”
