Draft Precinct Plans for Ballina Coastal Reserve on display
The draft Precinct Plans for the Ballina Coastal Reserve have been placed on public exhibition and Ballina Shire Council is seeking the community’s comments on the plans.
The Precinct Plans form part of the Ballina Coastal Reserve Plan of Management and provide more detailed information for the management and enhancement of the Coastal Reserve.
The council says the contents of the Precinct Plans must comply with the provisions of the Coastal Reserve Plan of Management.
The draft Precinct Plans were developed by committees made up of community representatives and stake holders.
These committees meet to discuss how best the Coastal Reserve Plan of Management could be implemented and the draft plans are the result of their work.
The plans do not address or provide any comments on the route of the proposed cycle path that is proposed to be located within the Coastal Reserve.
“The location of the cycle path is provided indicatively in the Ballina Coastal Reserve Plan of Management and the route selection is being addressed is a separate process,” the council said.
“The community is asked to read the plans and make any comments by 1 September 2008.
“The plans can be viewed at the Council Chambers in Cherry Street, Ballina and at the Ballina and Lennox Head libraries.
“A copy of the plans on CD can also be obtained from the Council Chambers. The plans may also be viewed on Council’s web site www.ballina.nsw.gov.au.”
