North Coast Community Gallery - August Exhibitions
August exhibition opens Friday 1st August and closes Sunday 31st August. Normal Gallery opening: Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm.
August promises to be one of the most varied and interesting months to date in the Northern Rivers Gallery. Four new exhibitions will open on August 1st, and the Gallery shop will be displaying all new works by local artists and artisans. Below is “Innocent Trail” by Joy Ann Jennings. Joy’s exhibition is called “Soul Connection – Symbolic Story Telling”. Joy is a deeply spiritual artist who is aiming for her work to be transformative to Australian society. She is based in Lennox Head and each consuming piece depicts within it, extraordinary stories of journeys and dreams symbolic of her life. Joy pefers to work sitting on the ground, and uses whatever is at hand to transfer paint to canvas, whether brush, stick or feather. The results are stunning.
Other exhibitions are by Southern Cross University students: Body of, a selection of work from second and third year students working in painting, printmaking and 3D studies. These works include an installation, and are challenging as well as being unique and of high standard. A variety of artists will have works hanging in “Animal House”, which will be home for animals of all kinds and in a variety of media.
And the renowned “Flying Goolies” will be exhibiting in Gallery 4, with amazing, clever and quirky metal and brightly painted sculptures. “Low maintenance pets” (below) says it all!
