Cherry Street Bowling Club in Ballina and Happy Daze Karaoke Productions will stage a talent quest, with first heat on Sunday, September 14.
Happy Daze Karaoke previously staged Ballina Idol, Junior Idol, Star Finder and Search For A Star quests.
There will be two sections – 8-14 years and 15 and over.
Contestants will receive cash and prizes. details of sponsors and prize monies will be announced shortly,
Organisers say the announcement of the quest is already creating interest among local talent
“The recent flood of TV talent shows on our screens has created a whole new generation of karaoke followers,” they said.
“Commercial TV networks have achieved massive audiences with Australian Idol, American Idol, The X Factor and SBS with Australian Karaoke Championship.
“The number of singers who turned up for auditions to appear on these shows is staggering, with the figures running into tens of thousands.
“Many openly admitted to being regular visitors to a karaoke venue.
“What’s so surprising about this new breed of performers is just how talented they are.
“Many singers practice at home with their own karaoke discs before strutting it at a live venue.”
