Northern Rivers Gallery September Exhibitions

Over September the Northern Rivers Community Gallery demonstrates it is indeed a gallery for all the community. All four new exhibitions open Friday 5th September and run until Sunday 28th September, from 10am to 4pm.

The exhibition in Gallery 4 is by Brain Injury Support Service Inc. entitled BISSI with life

These works were produced through art therapy at Willowbank Studios in Alstonville. The artists are Scott Trevelyan, Phil Gasson, Beth Easter, Cindy Hogan, Raymond De La Porte and John Cox. The opening of this dynamic and thought-provoking exhibition is by Annabel Gibson of the North Coast Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service on Friday 5th September from 6pm.

Ballina Coastal Quilters present THE QUILT ROOM in Gallery 1.

These works are beautiful as hangings or for practical use, and are being displayed at a very appropriate time given the recent burst of cold weather. Quilts have a long history and the group will also be providing viewers with fascinating facts about quilts.

Schools of the Northern Rivers region present FAMILY LIFE IN THE NORTHERN RIVERS

In Gallery2 this month schools of the south-eastern part of our area will be exhibiting works to illustrate “Family Life in the Northern Rivers”. This outburst of creative energy is a wonderful exhibition from schools that have participated in this inaugural exhibition.

WENDY FORD AND HUGH KELLOWAY present Coastal dreaming in Gallery 3.

Well-known local practitioners Wendy Ford and Hugh Kelloway present “Coastal dreaming – photography, silk dreams and visions”. Hugh Kelloway’s photography of surf and coastal scenes are both arresting and engaging, while Wendy Ford’s silk designs and oil paintings are extraordinarily beautiful.

GALLERY SHOP

Once again the Gallery shop in the foyer has an all new display for September. Northern Rivers artisans including Marina Cavalieri’s paper designs, Alan Ussher’s fabulous glassworks, Penne Evans’ ceramics, and Babette Angell’s baskets and small paintings will be amongst the works for sale.
