Phillip Silver wins the Ballina Shire mayoral race
Phillip Silver has won the race to become Ballina Shire’s first popularly-elected mayor.
As incumbment mayor, Cr Silver went into last Saturday’s local government election under threat from Cr Sharon Cadwallader.
However, Cr Silver polled 7765 first-preference votes, ahead of Cr Cadwallader’s 6514.
The result was declared this afternoon. Final results for the three Wards will be known later this week when preferences are counted.
