Duck race will aid Ballina Coast Guard’s bid for a new tower
Ballina Coast Guard’s bid to build a new tower on North Wall will be boosted this Sunday, courtesy of some plastic ducks!
The proceeds of the 16th Annual Rotary Great Duck Race, to be run on the Richmond River on Sunday, 30 November, 2008, as part of Ballina’s Rivafest, will be put towards the design and construction of a new tower.
One thousand People’s Ducks will race for the honour of being the fastest ducks on the Northern Rivers.
Great prizes donated by Cummings Retravision will go to the winning ducks.
Entries for The People’s Duck Race have been open to all members of the public by purchasing a duck ticket from members of the Rotary Club of Ballina.
Over 120 Corporate Ducks will also race in The Corporate Duck Race, to be contested by local business houses.
And if that’s not enough, there’s also the Best Dressed Duck competition.
The ducks will be loaded into the starting barriers at noon.
