Ballina concert will be a bushfire appeal fund-raiser

concertBallina Shire residents have joined with the rest of the nation in being overwhelmingly generous to the Victorian bushfire fund-raising efforts, but there’s even more to come.

Northern Rivers musicians are uniting to hold a fund-raising concert for the bushfire victims.

With the support of Ballina Shire Council and the Lions Club, bands, soloists and other musicians will hold an alcohol-free Fundraising Concert Day on Sunday, March 1, at the amphitheatre near Missingham Bridge from noon until 6pm.

All artists are donating their time.

“As this is a free concert, we need as many avenues as possible to raise funds,” co-ordinator Garry Lavercombe said.

organisers are hoping for donations of plasma TVs, signed football jumpers and other iteams for auction, as well as goods for raffles and general donations.

There will be a wide variety of music, rides for the kids, face painting, barbecues are other fund-raising activities.

“This is a chance for the Northern Rivers are to collectively help this great cause,” Garry said.

The day will be supported by Ballina Shire council, the Rural Fire Service and Australian Red Cross.
