Lennox Head Community Centre gets the go-ahead
Ballina Shire Council has approved the Development Application for the new Lennox Head Community Centre to be built on the corner of Park Lane and Mackney Street, Lennox Head.
“The development has been on the council agenda for a number of years and it is pleasing to see the project now moving ahead,” Ballina Mayor Phil Silver said.
“The community centre would be a hub for the Lennox community with the final plans to include a community/sports hall with capacity to seat 700 people or convert to a full-size basketball court, a new library to meet the growing needs of the Lennox Head area, three meeting rooms, a dedicated youth space and children’s activity/child minding area.
“Included in the development will be the long-awaited skate park for the children of Lennox Head, which will be located at the southern end of the building.
“The skate park will be adjacent to Park Lane and be highly visible to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic using Park Lane.
“The location of the skate park has been a major issue for council for many years and to include the skate park in the development will be a major bonus for the children and youth of Lennox Head.”
It is expected that tenders for the construction of the community centre and skate park will be advertised with in the next two months, with work expected to commence by 1 August 2009.
It is hoped that works will be completed by December 2010.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I would like to ask if there will be any available jobs becoming available in the new Lennox Head Community Centre? Would you be able to advise me on this please? I live in this same street and would love to be able to have a job opportunity in this beautiful complex.
Thank you very much,
Yous sincerely,
Josie Hesse.
