Tanyn Lyndon makes it a hat-trick of iron man titles

ironmanLennox Head lifesaver Tanyn Lyndon has made it a hat-trick of national age iron man titles.

Tanyn, a student at Southern Cross K-12 school, last weekend won the Under-17 Australian iron man title at Scarbrough Beach in Perth.

The 17-year-old has won national titles in the Under-15 and Under-17 events over the past three years. He also won last year’s Under-17 title.

Tanyn’s win followed success in the open iron man event at the NSW Country titles in January.

He showed his all-round abilities in the surf to also win a silver medal in the Under-17s tube race.

He also made the finals of the board and 2km beach race events, finishing fifth in both.

His Lennox Head clubmates also featured strongly in Western Australia with Ellie Leaver, Madison Blue Beckerleg, Alana McGoldrick and Mikaela Gray featuring in the Under-15s board relay, cameron relay, board rescue and swim team finals.

Meanwhile, there will be a special meeting of the club this Sunday to discuss updating its constitution.

The Lennox Head-Alstonville Surf Life Saving Club was formed in December, 1973.

The club is currently managed within the provisions of a constitution adopted on 28 May, 1989, and as amended on 31 May, 1992, and 25 May, 1997.

“The Club Management Committee and a significant number of our members have for some time expressed the need to further update the constitution,” the club says on its website.

“It has been recognised that changes in government legislation, advances in communication technology, the requirements of our Surf Life Saving governing bodies and the contemporary requirements of the membership of Lennox Head-Alstonvile SLSC are not being efficiently addressed by the current wording of the present constitution document.

“An amended Constitution has now been completed and unanimously approved by the Club Management Committee. It is to be submitted for adoption by all members by way of Special Resolution at a special general meeting to be held at 2pm on Sunday 29 March, 2009, at the club.”
