Ballina to host Our Kids Day Out

The fourth Our Kids Day Out will be held on Sunday 19 April from 9am until 2pm at Missingham Bridge amphitheatre, Ballina.

The day promises lots of fun for the whole family with a range of live entertainment, including the Ronald MacDonald Show, NBN Big Dog, Reptile Awareness, Sillies Billies, Dhinawan Dreaming and Magical Clowns, to name just a few.

The Our Kids charity raises money for Lismore Base Hospital’s Children’s Ward as well as for kids from the broader Richmond Valley and further afield to receive specialist medical care locally.

Lismore Base Hospital is the region’s major referral hospital and cares for more than 10,000 children a year in its Paediatric Unit, Special Care Nursery and Emergency Department.

This year Our Kids has again invited the Emergency Services – Fire Brigade, Ambulance, SES and Police – to attend and display their equipment, including trucks, cars and boats, on a designated area at the park. Children can see and learn about the vital services that help keep the community safe and rescue people in trouble.

Our Kids will be presenting the Children’s Ward Bravery Award to recognise the courage of a local young girl Chloe, who has suffered from lung damage and comes to the children’s regular for transfusions.

Chloe needs regular infusions in the Children’s Ward and the staff members say she is truly amazing brave little girl, even when receiving her treatment.

“Chloe is an inspiration and deserves to be centre stage at the Our Kids Day Out celebration,” said Our Kids Fundraising Co-ordinator, Rebekka Battista.

“This day will be a great time for families to enjoy free entertainment and meet the Emergency Services.

“Bring the family and a picnic blanket and enjoy the day of free entertainment.”
