Mr Goldman said: “The Awards for Excellence will be presented to the winners in over 30 varying categories at a gala dinner on Monday 27 June 2009 at the Novotel Pacific Bay Resort in Coffs Harbour.
“One of the outstanding restaurants and caterers who are judged as a category winner will be eligible to receive the coveted Award for either Restaurant of the Year or Caterer of the Year.”
In order to review the nominated restaurants and caterers, the anonymous judges utilise the Restaurant & Catering Evaluation System (RACES).
This is a subjective analysis where the reviewer is required to evaluate 55 separate criteria including telephone manner, service, quality of food, presentation, cleanliness and the farewell by the restaurant staff.
Most importantly, the judge is asked to rate each restaurant as to its value-for-money proposition.
The annual Restaurant & Catering NSW/ACT Awards for Excellence were created to recognise excellence in food, service and to acknowledge best practice in the hospitality industry.
The awards are presented in eight regions throughout NSW, with winners from these regional events competing for the title of Best Regional Restaurant and Caterer announced later in the year. The Savior National Awards for Excellence will be presented in late October 2009 at Parliament House in Canberra.
