The Bream Hole in the running for national honour
It’s an Aussie icon, but where do you get a good feed of fish and chips in Lennox Head?
At the aptly-named The Bream Hole, which is in the running to be named Crisco Australia’s Best Fish ’n’ Chip Shop 2009.
The Bream Hole owner, Janene Murray, said she was excited about entering the competition and believed she had the best fish ’n’ chips Australia had to offer.
“We are excited to be part of this nationwide hunt to find the best fish ’n’ chip shop in Australia and look forward to a bit of healthy competition,” she said.
“We think our fish ’n’ chips are fantastic and with the support of the community we can win the title and do Lennox Head proud.
“That’s why we’re asking our regular customers and locals to rally behind us and get onto the competition website and vote for our shop.
“A great bonus for customers is they have the chance to win some great prizes for voting online.”
Crisco Oil’s National Marketing Manager Donelle Jones said fish ’n’ chips were an iconic Australian takeaway meal.
“I’m sure we can all remember the takeaway nights when we looked on in anticipation as mum or dad unravelled lovely battered fish and hot chips out of butcher’s paper, care of the local fish ’n’ chip shop,” she said.
“This Aussie favourite is a great reason for people to get behind Crisco Australia’s Best Fish ’n’ Chip Shop 2009 and celebrate the success of local chippies across the country.”
Ms Jones said the competition was fuelled by just under 10,000 online votes in 2008.
“With the success the competition had last year we expect to double the number of votes this year,” she said.
The winner of Crisco Australia’s Best Fish ’n’ Chip Shop 2009’ will win a trip for two to Daydream Island as well as a public relations package.
There is an added bonus for online voters who will also have the chance to win a trip for two to Daydream Island or instant prizes including Roman Picnic Sets, Diamantina High Back Chairs, Bill Granger ‘Every Day’ cookbooks and Coles Group and Myer gift cards*.
