Alstonville High wins $500 for its music department
The Our Kids Calendar 2009 was joined this year with a Christmas CD featuring the talent of over 100 students in the Northern Rivers Region singing Christmas Carols.
Along with participating in the CD, each school involved was in the running to win $500 for their music department. The winner was the school which sold the most calendars.
Alstonville High was one of seven Local High Schools that participated in the Christmas CD and was the winning school.
“This is a wonderful community project and allows our students to be involved with celebrating and helping other local children as well as a rewarding experience for the students,” said Simon Chate, Alstonville High School Music teacher.
The calendars and CD COMBO sales raise vital funds to buy equipment for the Children’s Ward and Special Care Nursery at Lismore Base Hospital each year.
“It’s been my pleasure to give back to the schools that help us raise money for Our Kids,” said Our Kids Fundraising Co-ordinator, Rebekka Battista.
“It’s a way Our Kids can say thank you for their support in helping us raise the much-needed funds for the hospital.”
