Ballina Shire Council gets to work on the clean-up

Ballina Shire Council resolved at its Meeting today (28 May 2009) to waive tipping fees for green waste delivered to the Waste Management Centre up until and including Sunday 7 June 2009.

Council Clean-Up – Streets and Parks: Council is also currently cleaning debris from streets and parks.

Staff will be moving through all areas with chippers and trucks. This exercise may take up to six weeks to cover the entire shire.

Special consideration for aged and disabled citizens: At the discretion of the General Manager, council will give physical assistance for green waste handling to genuine hardship cases for aged and disabled citizens.
