They’ll be huffin’ and puffin’ in Ballina on Sunday

run3The Missingham Bridge area will be a hive of activity on Sunday, June 7, when the Ballina Lions Club Fun Run Walk will be held.

The date for the event was moved from its usual date in May to avoid a clash with events at Byron Bay.

Organisers are expecting more than the 845 people who took part last year to join in the fun.

This is the fourth year for the Lions club fun run.

There were 590 participants in the first event held in 2006.

This year’s event will be a fundraiser for the Ballina Lighthouse and Lismore Surf Life Saving Club.

Competitive triathlete Josh McHugh has won the past two open men’s 10km events.

For the not-so-serious, there are categories for runners, joggers, shufflers, amblers, wanderers or even dawdlers.

There will be more than $5000 in prizes on offer.

All the events will start and finish at Ballina’s Missingham Park.

The route will take in Missingham Bridge, Compton Drive, Lighthouse Parade and North Wall.
