Ballina McDonald’s licensee to take part in charity ride
Ballina Shire residents are being asked to support the ‘Ride for Sick Kids’ charity bike ride, to help raise more than $200,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), by purchasing a commemorative $2 pen from any McDonald’s restaurant, on sale from 17 July until stocks last.
A team of 20 riders, comprising of McDonald’s licensees and employees from across Queensland and northern NSW, have been training in preparation for the grueling 500 kilometre ride, set to take place over five days. For many, it will be the first time they will embark on such a challenge.
McDonald’s Ballina licensee Scott Campbell has been training hard leading up to the event.
He said the ‘Ride for Sick Kids’ charity bike ride is a great way for the local community to make a tangible contribution to the charity which received just over $160,000 from last year’s ride.
“By buying a $2 pen or simply making a gold coin donation, Ballina residents will be supporting the wonderful work of the Ronald McDonald Houses, which are the cornerstones of RMHC,” Scott said.
“We are hoping to raise $200,000 this year to go towards Ronald McDonald House Charities in Queensland.
“Queensland currently has three Ronald McDonald Houses which provide a safe, secure and supportive home away from home for seriously ill children and their families during their time of need. Last year’s ride was really successful and I’m looking forward to being part of this year’s events.”
The bike ride will start from Dalby on Tuesday, 18 August at 8am and will travel through Toowoomba, Gatton, Kilcoy and Bribie Island before finishing at Brisbane’s Ronald McDonald House Herston on Sunday, 22 August at 2pm.
