Good Guys put their hands up for charity

handsupThe Good Guys will be celebrating a milestone  this Saturday, following the announcement this week that two million dollars has been donated to 150 charitable organisations around Australia, as part of The Good Guys Local Giving Program.

Funds have gone towards supporting essential programs, services and projects at a grassroots level.

Jason Williams, proprietor of The Good Guys Ballina, is making it count where it’s needed in the Northern Rivers region, through supporting local community organisations such as House with No Steps and Aspect.

The local retailer has contributed over $15,000 in two years, by donating a percentage of each transaction made in store.

Jason acknowledges that the community in which he operates is his livelihood and strongly believes in strengthening it by reinvesting funds to address local community needs.

“The Good Guys Local Giving Program is aimed at putting some goodness back into the community through supporting projects or programs at a local level,” says Jason.

“The funds we raise here in Ballina stay in the Northern Rivers area. We make sure that every dollar counts, through making a tangible difference to the lives of those in need.

“We are proud to fund new employment initiatives at the House with No Steps and the annual family fun day for local families that have children with Autism.”

To mark the celebration and raise awareness, The Good Guys Ballina will go orange for a day with staff dressing up and many activities happening at a store level including a barbecue and competitions all day to win vouchers to spend in store.

“Whilst it’s a celebration to mark the two million milestone on a national level, we are really celebrating what’s been achieved here at a local level and all the good that’s come out of it,” says Jason.

The program is run in partnership with United Way, a not-for-profit organisation working towards connecting businesses with charities for the greater benefit of local communities.
