Lifeline is an acknowledged leader in counsellor training.
Lifeline Northern Rivers has a reputation for delivering quality counsellor training and this course will be no exception.
Previous participants have described the training as a life-changing experience – it has made them more self-confident, increased their self-esteem and provided them with greatly enhanced communication skills.
The training course is offered in two parts which can be taken separately or together.
The first part provides a unique personal development opportunity for those who would like to acquire fundamental counselling and communication skills which can be as useful in everyday life as they are in the counselling area.
The second part of the course is for those who actually wish to go on to become Lifeline volunteer telephone counsellors.
The Lifeline Northern Rivers Counselling Centre takes over 5000 calls annually from people needing emotional support and they depend on having enough skilled, dedicated volunteers to staff the phones and ensure that those calls get answered.
“We are seeking committed people who are looking to put something back into the community by ‘being there’ for our callers,” aspokeswoman said.
“Almost all of those who have done the training course and gone on to be volunteer telephone counsellors are very pleased to have done so and describe the experience as being one of the most satisfying things they have ever done.”
