State Records’ Christine Yeats to attend family history seminar

cyeatsShows like ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ have made family history very popular and the Richmond Tweed Family History Society Inc has many wonderful research resources available in their rooms in the Navel Museum Building on Regatta Avenue, Ballina (behind the Library).

Apart from the resources in the rooms, the volunteers that open the rooms, are delighted when visitors pop in.

The hobby of tracing your family tree soon becomes an obsession and some of the society’s members have been researching for over 20 years.

On August 8, Christine Yeats who manages the Public Access program at State Records NSW, will be visiting Ballina and conducting a seminar at The Players Theatre, 24 Swift Street, Ballina.

Her topics will include:

  • Chasing that elusive ancestor
  • Probate and deceased estate records
  • Intestate records and court and criminal records.

Christine is also the Treasurer of the History Council, President of the Randwick and District Historical Society and a Liaison Officer for the UNESC Memory of the World Committee.

Anyone interested in hearing Christine speak should register with Nola Rodey on 6686 3257. Cost is $25 and lunch is included.
