A big day of rugby in Ballina
There’s a big day of rugby union ahead in Ballina on Saturday, when Ballina Shire teams contest all grades of the Far North Coast major semi-finals.
In first grade, minor premiers Ballina take on Lismore.
In second grade, it’s a Ballina Shire local derby, with Ballina and Lennox Head clashing.
Wollongbar-Alstonville will fly the shire flag in Under-19s, taking on Lismore, while in third grade, Ballina play Lismore.
At stake are grand final berths for the winners.
In first grade, Ballina will be hoping to arrest an end-of-season form slump which saw them lose their last four games after being unbeaten all season.
With the winner advancing to the grand final, the loser will have to face up to Lennox Head, the defending premiers who made a late-season surge into the finals.
Lennox Head last Saturday beat Wollongbar Alstonville 27-14 in the minor semi-final.
Game times for major semi-finals at Quays Reserve, Ballina, on Saturday, August 29:
3:30pm: First grade, Ballina v Lismore City
2pm: Second grade, Ballina v Lennox Head
12:30pm: Under-19s, Wollongbar-Alstonville v Lismore City
