Gallery celebrates second birthday, Rivafest month

Water, the landscape and quintessential qualities of Australia are main themes running through the three new exhibitions that will open at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery on Saturday, October 31.

The exhibitions are a wonderful way to celebrate the gallery’s second birthday and the month of Rivafest.

The exhibitions, by leading artists Charly Wrencher, Inge Buschmann and Terry Ferguson, are outstanding for their beauty, vividness and sense of nostalgia.

Charly Wrencher’s exhibition, ‘Dive in’, makes you feel as if you could just do that.

He says his paintings are drawn from local subjects and reflect the inspiration which he has drawn from the Northern Rivers’ landscapes and seascapes.

The show is an emotional journey following the flow of water and its essential cycle.

Wrencher says that as an artist he is lucky to live in such an inspirational area.

Inge Buschmann’s exhibition, ‘Australian Made’, reflects upon the artist’s experience of living in Australia and the feelings and emotions that it arouses.

These powerful large works delve into the psychological experience of living in this vast land with its intense light.

Inge says that there is always a secret in her work which is dependant on the viewer for how it is revealed.

Photographer Terry Ferguson takes us on a journey along the winding course of the Richmond River in his exhibition, ‘The Lost River’.

These haunting images are inspired by his lifetime association with the region’s estuaries and his concern about environmental threats to these areas and the consequences that they will have.

All three exhibitions are on show at Northern Rivers Community Gallery, 44 Cherry Street, Ballina from Wednesday October 28 until Thursday, November 29.
