December 28 gazetted as Boxing Day public holiday
Executive Director of NSW Industrial Relations, Don Jones, has confirmed that December 28 has been gazetted as the 2009 Boxing Day public holiday.
Mr Jones said that while Boxing Day itself falls on a Saturday this year, the public holiday for Boxing Day is the following Monday.
“Employers need to ensure that they pay the correct penalty rates and other entitlements, as set out in their appropriate awards or agreements, for any employees who are required to work on this public holiday,” he said.
Any employer who is unsure of their responsibilities or any worker who wants to check on the pay and entitlements they should be receiving can contact Industrial Relations on 131 628 or visit www.industrialrelations.nsw.gov.au
