It’s show-time for the Boy From Oz

boyfromozAfter 12 weeks of hard rehearsal, it’s show-time for the Ballina Players’ production of the Boy From Oz.

The actors, the singers, the dancers and Peter Allen (Paul Farrell) are rubbing down the bruises, feeling pumped and ready to hit the stage for Ballina Players’ Friday night, November 20, opening of The Boy From Oz.

Paul Farrell is well-known to local audiences, having featured in many musicals, including The Producers and My Fair Lady, and for the children, Annie and Peter Pan.

This is a big role to take on – the boy from Tenterfield who became protégé to Judy Garland, husband to Liza Minnelli and a most successful songwriter and performer.

“A high-kicking balladeer throwing bolts of lightning from the stage of Radio City Music Hall” – but Paul Farrell lives the part.

What a show!

On the one hand it’s a story of adversity and triumph and of show people and country people.

But above all, it’s a spectacle of words and music, rhythm and dance, colour and excitement.

The Boy From Oz presents all of Peter Allen’s most loved and well-known songs, including I Honestly Love You, I Still Call Australia Home, Tenterfield Saddler and I Go To Rio.

All the songs are backed by his nine-piece band, playing on the stage as part of Peter’s show.

The Boy from Oz runs from November 20 to December 12.
