Australia Day celebrations in Fawcett Park
In a return to tradition, the annual Australia Day Celebrations are to return to Fawcett Park.
Celebrations will commence in Ballina at 9am with the Ballina Shire Concert Band performing and the East Ballina Lions Club cooking up a barbecue breakfast.
The official proceedings will begin at 10am with the flag-raising ceremony, followed by the Citizenship ceremony for new Australians, and the Australia Day award ceremony.
The awards to be announced on Australia Day will be: Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Sports Person of the Year, Community Event of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.
