Alstonville’s Jack Clarke to contest elite junior tennis competition

Alstonville junior tennis player Jack Clarke is one of 32 of the State’s most promising young tennis stars selected to participate in the inaugural Medibank Challenge at the Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre on Friday 15th January.

Jack will contest the Under-10 boys event.

The event coincides with the 2010 Medibank International Sydney Sydney Men’s Singles and Doubles Semi Finals and the Final of the Ladies’ Singles and Doubles in the evening.

The Medibank Challenge is a prestigious teams event which is contested by the most talented girls and boys from Metropolitan Sydney and Country NSW in the under 10 and 12 age groups.

Participants each play a singles, doubles and mixed doubles match on the six match courts used throughout the 2010 Medibank International Sydney.

The team which accumulates the most points throughout the day will be crowned the inaugural winners of the Medibank Challenge.

Tennis NSW CEO Glenn Tasker said: “The Medibank Challenge provides these young talented players with a unique opportunity to play competitive matches in the middle of an International event.”

Players have been selected to represent City and Country based on their Australian ranking and performances in the 2009 Medibank Junior Development Series and Medibank State Teams Events in 2009.

The Teams will be presented to the crowd on Centre Court in between the Men’s Semi Finals matches of the 2010 Medibank International Sydney.
