Alstonville Wollongbar Cup race meeting resurrected

The Alstonville Wollongbar Cup has been resurrected and will be held by the Ballina Jockey Club on Friday, April 16.

The Alstonville Wollongbar Chamber of Commerce has joined with the club to host the TAB meeting, which will be sponsored by the local businesses. The Cup race is being sponsored by the Pioneer Tavern at Wollongbar.

“We are very excited about this event and together with the chamber, we have developed a number of packages to accommodate the Alstonville-Wollongbar community,” jockey club CEO Sarah Wills said.

“We are offering a transport and gate entry package which involves return bus transport and gate entry for $15 a person.

“Tickets will be available from the Pioneer Tavern and the Federal Hotel.

“For patrons looking for an enhanced race-day experience, the chamber is hosting a trackside marquee where complimentary food and beverages will be served.”

The cost of entry to the marquee is $85 per person and includes bus transport and gate entry.

The Ballina Jockey Club holds a series of ‘sub-regional’ cup meetings for the Bangalow, Billinudgel, Newrybar, Lennox Head, Byron Bay and Evans Head communities.

Jockey club chairman Robert Pitt said the club was thrilled to be adding the Pioneer Tavern Alstonville Wollongbar Cup to its cups program.
