Ballina rugby looks forward to a big year

Ballina Rugby Club kicks off its season this weekend with a home game against Southern Cross University.

The club has welcomed a new president, Al Barrett, and new coaches for 1st grade Mick McGregor and John Doktor, 2nd grade Brent Horan and Lincoln Raudonikis, with under 19s being coached by Josh Piercy.

Mick Koellner will once again be coach of 3rd grade.

The whole club has been training since early February with new conditioning coaches Mick Kearns and Jerry Thompson, who have whipped the players into shape in anticipation of a strong season ahead.

The club has been successful in building virtually a new under 19s team, enjoying good numbers at training and a high skill level across the team, with a new coach there is an air of anticipation for the upcoming season.

Overall the club is looking strong for the 2010 season with a record number of registered players and a very enthusiastic commitment to training.
