Government takes over management of Ballina Shire caravan parks
The management of three Crown land caravan parks on the North Coast was today transferred to the NSW Government.
Minister for Lands Tony Kelly said Warwick Watkins, Chief Executive Officer of the Land and Property Management Authority (LPMA), has formally accepted the handover from Ballina Shire Council.
“The handover took place at Lake Ainsworth Caravan Park,” the Minister said.
“LPMA has worked closely with council to reach agreement on the future management for Ballina Central, Lake Ainsworth and Shaws Bay Caravan Parks.
“The handover is by mutual agreement by both parties.”
The parks are among around 270 Crown land caravan parks in NSW managed by LPMA.
A total of $8.8 million has been allocated towards the funding of improvements at Crown land caravan parks this financial year.
Mr Kelly said he can assure the community the Ballina parks will continue to operate as caravan parks.
“LPMA will be working closely with van owners and tourists to ensure high-standard holiday accommodation continues to be provided,” the Minister said.
