Bounty Festival organisers hoping for fine weather
Ballina’s inaugural Fine Food and Wine Festival will be held this Sunday, May 30, and organisers say that with 35 exhibitors now committed, all is set for a fantastic event.
“I’m confident that on the day we’ll be putting our best foot forward,” says event chair Milton Colburt.
“Running an event like this requires total commitment and a rigorous approach to planning – there’s still a lot of work going on behind the scenes with is understandable.”
A principal consideration for event organisers will be the weather.
“The success of events like this are generally weather-dependant,” Mrs Colburt said.
“But we’ve done our homework on this and I’m pleased to say that we can handle anything the weather can throw at us – hopefully the day will be perfect though!”
The event team is hoping for an attendance of between 800 and 1000.
“What we need is a strong show of support from the community because there’s a lot riding on this initial event,” Mr Colburt said.
“We’ve got prospective sponsors for future events and many other interested parties watching what we do and how well we do it this year.
“We want ‘Ballina’s Bounty’ to become a calendar event and indeed a signature event for Ballina.
“If the community demonstrates their support by attending, not only will it encourage our project team, it will bring in much-needed sponsorship.
“What’s coming up for us is a real defining moment. I guess we’ll find out on Sunday whether or not we’ve got an event with the required acceptance and therefore momentum to guarantee it’s future.”
‘Ballina’s Bounty’, Ballina’s inaugural Fine Food and Wine Festival, will be staged on Sunday 30th May from 12:00 noon to 4:00pm at the Ballina Jockey Club. Entry tickets, available at the venue on the day, will be $25 per adult and $1 for every year of age for those aged between 5 and 18.
Exhibitors will be offering all food and wine samples free of charge and a comprehensive entertainment program has been scheduled.
