Nominations sought for community achievement awards

Individuals, organisations and business networks in the Ballina Shire community have the chance to be recognised with the NSW/ACT Regional Achievement & Community Awards.

“The awards having been running for many years in NSW and the ACT and we have seen many fine achievers recognised,” Ballina Shire Mayor Phillip Silver said.

“We want to see many more hard-working individuals and organisations in our community that are making an invaluable contribution to nominate this year.

“Ballina Shire Council is proud of our locals and their achievements, and this is a great opportunity for them to get the recognition and to shine in the spotlight.”

Nominations are now open in the following categories:

• The Land and Property Management Authority Community of the Year Award
• The Land and Property Management Authority Crown Reserve Trust Award
• The Industry and Investment NSW Business Enterprise Award
• The Industry and Investment NSW Events & Tourism Award
• The Salvation Army Employment Plus Employment and Training Award
• The Peabody Environment & Landcare Award.

Entrants could win a share in a $30,000 Commonwealth Bank AwardSaver accounts or television air time prize packages on Prime Television.

All category winners will also receive a hand-crafted glass trophy.

“As an inspiring and innovative community, I am positive that we have many worthy contenders in our area,” Cr Silver said.

“If you would like to nominate an individual, business or community project, or be nominated yourself, nomination forms are available from all participating sponsors and from council’s website www.ballina.nsw.gov.au.”

The NSW and ACT Regional Achievement & Community Awards are presented by Prime Television and the Commonwealth Bank and supported by The Land newspaper and The Local Government Shires Association of NSW.
