$50,000 in funding for Ballina Shire festivals and events
Ballina Shire Council has announced the launch of the Festivals and Event Support Program which will provide $50,000 in funding for 2010/11 to support festivals and events within Ballina Shire.
“Ballina Shire Council values the importance of local festivals and events that aim to showcase the rich cultural diversity and history of our local Ballina Shire community and that deliver economic, social and environmental benefits,” the council said.
“The program relates to the ‘Festivals and Events Support Policy’ which is currently on exhibition for public comment until Thursday 29 July 2010.
“The purpose of this policy is to enable Council to support festivals and events put forward by not-for-profit community based organisations that deliver the aims identified in the policy.”
The policy aims to:
• ensure that an open and transparent decision-making process is in place for requests for support from Council and
• provides an accessible and equitable process for not-for-profit organisations seeking event support from Council.
Applications open today and will remain open until Thursday 12 August 2010. The Festivals and Events Policy detailing the criteria for selection and the application form are available on Council’s website at www.ballina.nsw.gov.au
