Ballina Beach Village hosts jazz weekend
The sounds of jazz will chase away the winter blues when the Ballina Beach Village hosts a non-stop jazz music weekend.
Festival director Steven Russell (who is head of keyboard studies at SCU) has put together an impressive line-up of quality jazz artists, featuring the sensational Willy Qua and the new Galapagos Duck with guest vocalist, the sultry Elly Hoyt.
While Willie takes the top gig on the Saturday night, there is plenty more in the jazz program, starting with some brilliant young musicians for brunch gigs on the Saturday and Sunday.
Jim Kelly (pictured) is appearing with his duo and also his fabulous feel-good band, The Healin Feelin Band.
Steve and Sharni Russell, songstress Leigh Carriage with Thierry Fossemalle, jazz journeyman John Copeland and rising stars Elle Minque and Spike Porter are just some of the outstanding acts to catch.
Jazz At The Beach is being held by The Ballina Beach Village, a pristine eco destination situated on the beach and Richmond River at South Ballina, just 10 minutes away from Ballina.
The 15-acre property has a super holiday vibe about it. The local wallabies might even sit in the audience and catch a set or too.
The wildlife is abundant, and the facilities cater to every guests needs.
There is ample accommodation, from 3.5-star beach family cabins to wilderness camping sites.
All festival tickets have the bonus of free camping, but cabin accommodation or powered site camping has to be pre-booked.
