Nominations open for Australia Day Awards 2011
Nominations for the 2011 Australia Day awards for both Ballina Shire and the Australia Day Council of New South Wales are now open.
Australia Day is a national day of importance to celebrate what is great about Australia and being Australian but also to acknowledge the people who have made a difference to Ballina Shire.
There are many people in our community who make a significant contribution to our shire and what better way to recognise the invaluable contribution they make by nominating them for a Ballina Shire Australia Day Award. There are awards for recognition in the following five categories:
• Citizen of the Year (over 21 years of age)
• Young Citizen of the Year (under 21 years of age)
• Sports Person of the Year
• Community Event of the Year
• Volunteer of the Year
Nomination forms for the Ballina Shire Australia Day Award are available online at
www.ballinaaustraliaday.com.au/awards.
Award recipients will be announced at the official Australia Day celebrations to be held at Missingham Park Bridge Amphitheatre on Wednesday 26 January 2011.
