Fishing Bonanza to run as part of boat show

The North Coast Fishing Bonanza is to be held in conjun-ction with the Ballina Boat and Leisure Show.

When: Briefing is on 7pm the 7th October, 2010

Fishing Times: Fishing times are from Midnight 7th October till 2pm 10th October

Nightly Info Sessions: Nightly information sessions are compulsory to attend and there will also be small draws for products and entertainment will also be there. These nightly info sessions are on at 5pm on the Friday and Saturday nights and your camera card is handed in at these nights for judging.

Presentation and Random Draw: 3pm 10th October 2010

Fishing Comp Info: The fishing tournament is a catch and photo competition with encouragement to catch and release but not compulsory.

There is also a live weigh-in for species with fish being put into the tank.

Photos are taken with a token which is given out at nightly draws on a brag matt which if you don’t have one is available at the Briefing. The camera card is handed in each night for judging and prizes and then handed back for the next fishing sessions.

Species: There will be prizes for most species.

Fishing Styles: All forms for fishing is permitted from bait to lure or fly. You are permitted to fish from boats, kayaks, land or beach, basically anywhere you can get public access to you can fish from.

Fishing Locations: You are permitted to fish from any river systems or offshore from the north tip of the Tweed River bar to the south tip of the Clarance River bar. You can launch you boat or fish from any land in the area, you are not restricted to Ballina river or offshore from Ballina.

Entry Fee: $150 Adult Entry $175 Late Adult Entry (after 3rd October, 2010) $60 Cadet Entry (12 – 16 years) $20 Junior Entry (0 – 12 years). Note: You can upgrade your entry to full paying if you wish to be in the adult random prize pool, same as Juniors can upgrade to Cadet if you wish to go for Cadet random prize pool.

Random Prize Pool: The Adult and Cadet prize pool which is drawn via a barrel draw during the final presentation on Sunday 10th October at 4pm will consist of prizes to a value of $49,950. More information can be found at www.vmrballina.com/boatshow.asp
