Australia Day needs your support
With just 12 weeks out from the 2011 Australia Day Celebrations, support is needed from local businesses to make the nation’s day a successful and enjoyable celebration for the Ballina Shire community.
“You can lend your support in a number of ways: by telling your friends and family about the event, attending the celebrations or becoming an event sponsor,” Ballina Shire Council said.
“Australia Day sponsorship is an opportunity for businesses, large and small, to connect with the people of Ballina Shire who share and enjoy this warmhearted and friendly annual celebration.
“Please consider supporting this very special community event by downloading a sponsorship prospectus from the official event website www.ballinaaustraliaday.com.au.
“The sponsorship prospectus outlines how you can be involved and the fabulous opportunities on offer. Don’t miss your chance to get behind this great community event by registering your interest early and be included in the marketing campaign to be rolled out in next few weeks.”
The 2011 celebrations will be held from 5.00pm to 9.00pm on Wednesday 26 January at Missingham Park Bridge Amphitheatre, Ballina. A host of activities will include the official citizenship and awards ceremony and an evening performance by soul performer Lisa Hunt.
Nominations are also still open for the 2011 Ballina Shire Australia Day Awards. There is sure to be many in our community worthy of nomination with five different award categories: Young Citizen of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Sports Person of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Community Event of the Year. Nominations close Wednesday 8 December 2010.
Local businesses wanting more information on sponsorship opportunities should contact Holly Archibald, Council’s Cultural Tourism Officer on 6686 3484, email hollya@ballina.nsw.gov.au or download your sponsorship prospectus at www.ballinaaustraliaday.com.au
