RSL LifeCare Ballina announces successful building contractor
RSL LifeCare announced today that local company Ware Building has been appointed as the successful builder to undertake the $17 million nursing home redevelopment at Ex-Services Village, Ballina.
The historic turning of the first sod will take place in March, with construction expected to conclude in mid 2013.
Resident Fred Hyland is delighted that the building works will finally commence.
“We’ve been waiting for a new building and we’re thrilled that it’s about to start. RSL LifeCare have shown their commitment to our community as well as having shown time and again how they provide great care and service,” he said.
RSL LifeCare Northern General Manager Matthew Ashby said: “Ex-Services Ballina is renowned for its provision of quality aged care services.
“When complete, this innovating building program will enable us to take our aged care service to a new level of excellence.
“The spacious, single-room accommodation with private ensuite will provide residents with a more comfortable and dignified living environment.”
Key features of the redevelopment include:
• Creation of 120 contemporary single-bed rooms with ensuite, catering for high and low-care residents.
• Refurbishment work includes a library, physiotherapy and gymnasium facilities, plus improvements to offices.
• Creation of a new main entrance at Hackett Lane, with covered entrance and a special water feature focused on remembering those who served.
• Substantial landscaping including gazebos, water features, secure walkways and aviaries.
