Two New Exhibitions at Northern Rivers Gallery

Saturday 7 May at 2.00pm until Sunday 29 May 2011. Awe-tism 11 showcases the talents of artists on the autism spectrum (AS) as well as providing the viewer with an insight into their world. The exhibition title is intended to convey a sense of celebration and aims to put a positive spin on the word ‘autism’, which is often laden with negativity. The exhibition spans a variety of mediums from painting, printmaking and sculpture to jewellery and multi-media. Arcadia is the joint effort of two very talented artists Susan Anderson and Margurete Beesley. The paintings for ‘Arcadia’ were inspired by the style and beauty of the Ziegfeld Follies, which were a series of elaborate theatrical productions on Broadway in New York City from 1907 through to 1931.
