Reggaefest 2011 to be held in Ballina

Ballina is set for a feast of reggae when Reggaefest 2011 Roots and Culture Music Festival is staged at Missingham Park on September 17 and 18.

After rocking Byron Bay last year with 12 hours of live music, Caribbean food and flicks, Reggaefest has confirmed this year’s event will be held in Missingham Park, Ballina.

RazHarel, organiser of the festival, said that “the site is world-class, there is no location like it in the area”.

A stellar first line-up has just been announced and it features:
Jah Mason (Jamaica), Nkulee Dube (Sth Africa), Neacombo Diffuzion (New Caledonia), Mista Savona Feat Vida Sunshyne, Kingfisha, Silva Emcee (NZ), Darky Roots, Blackbirds, The Grains, Raz Bin Sam & Lion I, Lubdub, Simon Wright, Paua Cheap Fakes and One Dread.

More international and national artists will be announced.

Workshops will be offered in Capoeira (Brazil), Jamaican Dancehall, African dance and Indigenous dance.

Local craft and international cuisine will be on offer in the marketplace and there will be craft and activities for the kids in the shaded play-park.

For those wanting a night away from home, the festival site is just minutes from riverside accommodation.

Two-day Early Bird tickets are on sale now for just $89 with specials also available for children and families.
