Ducks to race on the Richmond
Ducks will be racing on the Richmond River this weekend when the annual Ballina Rotary Club Charity Duck Race is held on Sunday, October 2.
The Charity Duck Race has been staged in Ballina since 1992 by Ballina Rotary Club.
The duck race will be conducted from Fawcett Park. TheĀ plastic ducks are launched from a bottom boat and captured again within about 150-200 metres.
There are two races, the first being the Corporate Ducks where about 150 ducks are released. These ducks are sponsored by local business houses.
The other race is where about 1000 smaller ducks are released. These ducks have been purchased by the community.
There also is the Best Decorated Duck competition, with ducks on display at Fawcett Park from 9am. The duck races will begin at 11am.
