Violin virtuoso, Attilla Sautov, returns to Ballina

Attilla Sautov

Violin virtuoso, Attilla Sautov, returns from an inspiring tour of Italy to present a uniquely intimate solo concert.

In stark contrast to his recent ‘rock’ concerts, Attilla will demonstrate great mastery of unaccompanied solo works with his new 1705 Stradivari model violin from Cremona. The program will include Bach’s Chaconne (from Partita No. 2 in D minor), a structurally and emotionally powerful piece. Attilla will also perform three of Paganini’s Caprices, and Attilla’s own arrangement of ‘Paganiniana’ (variations on themes of Paganini by Nathan Milstein). These pieces reveal the incredible acrobatics that Paganini inflicted on aspiring violinists, but which Attilla conquers with apparent ease: left hand pizzicato, ricochet arpeggios, double and triple stops, parallel octaves and tenths, and impressively fast scales.

Although Attilla’s impressive mastery of the violin often creates the illusion of hearing more than one instrument, he will also perform duets by Henryk Wieniawski (Etudes-Caprices, No 18) and Johann Sebastian Bach, accompanied by a second violin, played by Anna Moores.

Attilla performs with great passion and warmth, and with breathtaking technique. “Attilla is a genius – his passion for the violin is amazing”, said one concertgoer recently. He has a trademark rapport with his audience, who are often left speechless by his talents, and also loves bringing his musical gifts to regional communities, despite having vast experience in some of the world’s most prestigious venues.
