Upgrading Teven Road
Ballina Shire Council is scheduling road works for Teven Road from Monday 16 May.
During the construction period Teven Road will be closed between Eltham Road and Shaws Lane, Teven. A detour via Eltham Road and Pearces Creek Road and access to properties within the closure will remain open.
The $900,000 works, funded under the Australian Government’s Black Spot program, will include a non-skid surface, road signage, line-marking and the reshaping of bends to improve safety for motorists.
Group Manager Civil Services, John Truman said “Ballina Shire Council aims to provide quality road infrastructure for the community which at times requires traffic detours. During these works entire sections of Teven Road will be closed to allow the works to be completed sooner, without the disruption of traffic control.
“There are cost savings to council and the community by not having to install traffic control devices and reducing the construction period. Closing entire sections also makes a safer environment for construction crews as they are not impeded by vehicles and improved safety for motorists as they will avoid the construction zone.
“Council appreciates the patience normally shown by motorists during construction works. Weather permitting we expect these works will take three weeks to complete,” Mr Truman added.

Signage before roadworks commenced indicated the road would be closed on 16 May 2016. Each day after this I have had to detour after trying to use the road and then finding out it was still closed. Inconvenient because if I’d known the road was going to be closed longer would have travelled via Bruxner Hwy.
Checked Ballina council website but could find no information on the website about this closure. I note that this notice still doesn’t advise when the road will reopen !!
Disgusting signage and information to road users and rate pays Ballina Shire Council – DO BETTER, please.
