Declutter and Register for Second Hand Saturday

second-hand-saturdayThere’s never been a better time to declutter and spring clean your home – Second Hand Saturday, the biggest day of garage sales on the North Coast, is coming to your neighbourhood this spring. The event, to be held on the Saturday 24 September, aims to promote reuse and recycling of household goods and furniture by providing the community with an opportunity to register to hold a garage sale and receive free promotion in their local newspaper and online.

Coordinator of Second Hand Saturday, Linda Tohver said “Second Hand Saturday is a fantastic opportunity to give unwanted belongings a second life, meet the neighbours and make some extra money.

“Or you might want to join forces with your friends, family or neighbours and hold a joint garage sale. We also welcome fundraising activities from community groups, schools and churches.”

“In previous years, we have had a fantastic response from our north coast community, so we are thrilled to be holding this again with support from Council. Everything from bikes, tinnies and trailers, to antiques, and other treasures can be sold at this event.”

Registrations to hold a garage sale at this event are now open at www.secondhandsaturday.com.au .

Coordinated by North East Waste and member Councils, the aim of the event is to increase reuse and recycling and reduce disposal of unwanted materials to landfill – saving resources and our local environment.
