Lennox, Alstonville CBDs to be alcohol-free zones

Ballina Shire Council has taken another step towards combating alcohol-induced anti-social behaviour in Lennox Head and Alstonville.
The council has voted unanimously to implement alcohol-free zones in the Alstonville and Lennox Head CBDs.
The zones prohibit drinking alcohol at any time in public places that are public roads, footpaths and car parks.

Ballina’s Anzac Day commemorations on Friday will begin with the Dawn Service from 5am.

It’s been a week of sadness for many Alstonville and Wollongbar residents as they paid tribute to shark attack victim Peter Edmonds.
Peter, 16, of Wollongbar, was fatally attacked by a shark at Ballina’s North Wall last week.

Daylight saving ends, so check your fire alarm

Daylight saving ends this Sunday, April 6, and the NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) reminds all NSW residents to change their smoke alarm batteries when they change back their clocks.
In 2007 the fire services recorded just under 11,000 residential fires nationally resulting in 70 deaths, 22 of those deaths occurred in NSW.
