Evans Head is a quiet seaside village on the Evans River located south of Ballina and accessible from the Pacific Highway at Broadwater. Evans Head is set amid beautiful headlands and surfing beaches and you can take in the panoramic views from Razorback Lookout. Evans Head offers first class boat launching facilities and has a reputation for excellent fishing in the estuaries and on the coast. It is home to a large commercial fishing fleet.

Surrounded by the Broadwater and Bundjalung National Parks the Evans Head area is the traditional home of the Bundjalung people and is rich in aboriginal history. You can see a number of middens in the Gumma Garra Picnic Area situated to the north of the Evans River in the Bundjalung National Park. Another popular activity is to take the Salty Lagoon walk in the Broadwater National Park through undisturbed salt marsh and swamp forest, see the 60,000 year old cemented sand dunes and enjoy the view of the diverse vegetation from the picnic area lookout.
