Killen Falls is a stunning waterfall located just 15 minutes from Ballina, hidden in the hinterland behind Lennox Head. The 10-metre waterfall cascades into a beautiful rock pool surrounded by lush subtropical rainforest.
The falls are accessed via a short walking track from the car park on Friday Hut Road. The walk takes about 10 minutes and passes through regenerating rainforest. A lookout platform provides views of the falls, though swimming in the pool below is now restricted to protect the fragile ecosystem.
Tosha Falls, also known as Emigrant Creek Falls, is another beautiful waterfall in the Ballina hinterland. Located near Alstonville, the falls are best visited after rain when the water flow is strongest.
Both waterfalls are wonderful examples of the natural beauty hidden in the Northern Rivers hinterland, just minutes from the coast.
